Install the file you downloaded

Open a terminal and run one pip install command on the file (you need Python 3.10+). On Windows, use py -m pip install and type the file name in full (PowerShell does not expand *). On a Mac or Linux where Python is system-managed, create a virtual environment first. The install fetches one open-source dependency (PyYAML) from the standard Python index; nothing is ever requested from us, and after install there is no network call of any kind.

Run `signato` and the clock starts

The first time you run the command, a 30-day local trial begins on its own, timestamped on your machine. No activation step, no dashboard to log into first.

Verify, do not trust

Checksum. The file you download is signato-0.14.0-py3-none-any.whl, SHA-256 bbf058dfda3372bd35911a72ac04f276d5ae04a4c15c2710e5605a35cffd6251. Check it with shasum -a 256 signato-*.whl (macOS/Linux) or certutil -hashfile signato-0.14.0-py3-none-any.whl SHA256 (Windows). If the hash does not match, do not install, and tell us.
The no-network claim is testable, not a promise. Install, then disconnect from the internet: every command keeps working, because nothing in Signato calls out, at install, at check time, or ever. The only network access in the whole journey is pip fetching one open-source dependency (PyYAML) from the standard Python index at install time.

What you are actually installing

The trial and the paid product are the same chamber.

There is no cut-down demo mode hiding behind the trial. The full checking engine runs from day one; the 30 days are a license window, not a feature limit.

Three properties that do not change after you pay

100% local. The matrix, the checks, and the telemetry are files on your own disk. Nothing about a send, a person, or a subject is transmitted anywhere during the trial or after.
Your data never leaves the machine. There is no server in this picture to leak to: Signato has nothing to phone home with, because it has nowhere to send it.
An honest clock when the trial ends. The 30-day window starts on your first run, with a countdown from day 23. On day 31, without a paid plan, verification commands lock — Signato tells you exactly why and how to activate. It does not delete your matrix, does not upload anything, and never fails open: a locked copy refuses to run rather than silently letting things through. Choosing a plan reactivates it in place; nothing you configured is lost.

Is this the same as "pip install signato" from PyPI?+

Yes. The package is on PyPI under a proprietary license: pip install signato installs the identical wheel, byte for byte, and the same 30-day trial starts on first run. Downloading here adds two things: the SHA-256 is published above for verification, and it works on networks that block the public index. The short form is optional either way; we only keep your email if you tick the briefing box. If you do not, nothing is stored and nobody follows up.

Does anything get uploaded when I install or run it?+

No. Installation is local, from the file you download here. Running the checker reads and writes files on your own disk. There is no telemetry call to us built into the trial or the paid product: local-first is a structural property, not a setting you have to remember to enable.

What happens exactly on day 31?+

Verification commands lock, and Signato tells you the trial window has closed and how to activate. Your matrix, scenarios, and telemetry stay intact on your disk — plain files you own, with nothing uploaded, ever. The lock refuses service; it never fails open, so an expired copy will not let a blocked pair through as a side effect. See pricing when you are ready to continue.

Do I need a credit card to request the trial?+

No. Name and email on the form are optional, and your firm's name is too. There is no card field anywhere in the trial request, because there is nothing to charge during the 30 days.
